Pool Deck Structural Repair
A customer contacted us because their pool, built less than 5 years prior, was showing some severe signs of structural deterioration. The pool was built on a steep hill overlooking the lake. The installation consisted of a large containment wall on the downhill side, filled with 6 feet of backfill on the uphill side to make a level space for the pool deck and fire pit area. The containment wall had two large, vertical cracks indicating the area of failure, and the pool deck had begun to settle vertically and horizontally, indicated by the leaning of the wall and the opening of the pool deck control joints.
We installed four helical anchors to underpin the wall and prevent further subsidence; additionally, we installed 3 horizontal tie-backs through the wall to prevent further horizontal movement. Finally, we used resin injection to lift and stabilize the pool deck slab and repair the soil contained by the wall. This robust repair resulted in a permanent stabilization of the area, meaning this customer can be confident the area will never have ongoing structural issues.
