Foundation Slab Stabilization
During the construction process before grading had been completed, rainwater was allowed to shed in the wrong direction. As a result, the custom home’s foundation experienced severe undermining during a period of heavy rain. Soil washout had resulted in a cavity up to 12” underneath areas of the foundation slab, including areas that were slated to hold load-bearing walls.
We used a borescope camera to identify the size and locations of the cavities. After drilling injection ports in the appropriate areas, we injected expanding structural polyurethane foam to fill all voids and ensure total support of the foundation slab. We monitored the process using the borescope to ensure the correct volume of material was used, as well as laser equipment to ensure we were not moving the floor. Ultimately, the floor was fully stabilized throughout the compromised area and will perform for the lifetime of the structure as though this issue never occurred.
